Butyl alcohol is colorless liquid with alcohol odor. It is slightly soluble in water. It functions as solvent of various coatings and raw material of dibutyl phthalate. Moreover, it is also used in producing butyl acrylate, n-butyl acetate, butyl cellosolve or as intermediate of organic synthesis and extractant of biochemical drugs.
Solubility in water at 20℃ is 7.7% (weight), solubility of water in n-butyl alcohol is 20.1% (weight).
It is miscible with ethyl alcohol, ether and many organic solvents. Explosion limits is 1.45-11.25 (volume).
Butyl alcohol is mainly used in producing phthalic acids, aliphatic dibasic acids, and TBP plasticizers. It is also widely used in various plastic and rubber products, or as raw material for producing butyraldehyde, butyric acid, butyl amine, and butyl lactate.
In producing butyl acetate, dibutyl phthalate, phosphoric acid plasticizers, melamine resins, acrylic and epoxy varnishes, and etc.
The product can be contained in clean tank car or galvanized iron drum, net weight is 150kg. The package should be tightly sealed and kept in dry and well-ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire sources, flammable goods, oxidants and acids.
