This product is composed of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. It is colorless liquid with chloroform-like odor. Molecular formula is C2-H-Cl3, molecular weight is 131.39, relative density is 1.4649(20/4℃), melting point is -73℃, boiling point is 86.7℃, flash point is 32.22℃(closed cup), spontaneous ignition point is 420℃, vapor density is 4.53, vapor pressure is 13.33kPa(100mmHg32℃). It is almost insoluble in water, dissolved in ethyl alcohol, ether and chloroform, soluble in various fixed oils and volatile oils.
1. Trichloroethylene is mainly used as metal degreasing agent and dry cleaning agent. It is an excellent solvent that can replace benzene and gasoline. It also functions as solvent of resin, pitch, coal tar, cellulose acetate, nitrocellulose, rubber and coating.
2. It is also widely used in degreasing, refrigeration, pesticide, spice, rubber, cleaning fabrics, and other industries.
