Sodium carbonate is easily weathering and turns white powder Na2CO3. It is soluble in water, and the aqueous solution is alkaline. Sodium carbonate solution presents strongly alkaline (pH=11.6) and has a certain degree of corrosivity. Sodium carbonate containing water of crystallization includes Na2CO3·H2O, Na2CO3·7H2O and Na2CO3·10H2O.
It breaks down at high temperature and produces sodium oxide and carbon dioxide.
Long-term exposure to the air can absorb moisture and carbon dioxide in the air and generates sodium bicarbonate.
Its crystalline hydrate sodium carbonate decahydrate (Na2CO3·10H2O) is easily weather in the dry air.
Uses: as one of the important chemical raw materials, sodium carbonate is widely used in producing chemiclas, cleaning agent, detergents, and etc.
Storage: keep in cool and well-ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. Separate from acids.
Transportation: Separate from acids and edible chemicals. To protect from solarization, rain and high temperature during transportation.
