Chemical formula is CH3C(O)On-C4H9. Colorless transparent liquid with fruit flavor. It is miscible with ethanol and ether, soluble in most hydrocarbons, soluble in about 120 parts of water at 25℃. Relative density is (d2020)0.8826, freezing point is -77℃, boiling point is 125～126℃, refractive index (n20D) is 1.3951, flash point (closed cup) is 22℃. Inflammable. Its vapor can generate explosive mixture with the air, explosion limit is 1.4%～8.0% (volume).
1. Excellent solvnet that is widely used in nitrocellulose, varnish, artificial leather, fabric and plastic processing.
2. n-Butyl acetate is allowed to be used as flavouring agent according to GB2760一96.
3. It is sometimes used in fruity essence.
4. n-Butyl acetate is excellent solvent of cellulose acetate butyrate, ethyecellulose, chlorinated rubber, polystyrene, methacrylic resin and many natural resins.
5. Moreover, n-Butyl acetate is also used in collodion, nitrocellulose, varnish, artifical leather, plastic and spice industries.
